This Week's Championships: The Ohio Northern women's golf team will participate in the 72-hole NCAA Division III Championships Tuesday-Friday at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich ... The tournament will be held on the West Course at Forest Akers ... Ohio Northern is the No. 16-seed in the 25-team field and will start with 18 holes on Tuesday ... The NCAA moved Tuesday's tee times back 75 minutes due to expected frost overnight ... The first round will now begin at 9:15 am and ONU's tee times in the first round will run every 10 minutes from 2:55-3:35 pm ... ONU will play 18 more holes on Wednesday with tee times from 9:40-10:20 am ... Thursday's 18 holes will run from 8 am-2:30 pm and will be based on the 36-hole team scores after Wednesday's play ... The field will be cut to 15 teams after 54 holes and the final round will have tee times from 8-10:20 am based on the 54-hole team standings ... The top 10 finishers and ties of the 131 women in the tournament will earn All-America honors ... Admission to the four-day event is free and limited to 25 percent capacity ... This will mark ONU's second appearance at the NCAA III Championships ... The Polar Bears finished 15th of 20 teams at the 2007 Championships at Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. ... Ohio Northern earned an automatic bid to the NCAAs by winning the OAC Tournament April 30-May 2 ... Freshman Grace Honigford won Medalist honors, leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team to the team title in dominating record-setting fashion at the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Friday-Sunday at River Greens Golf Course. ... The Polar Bears entered Sunday's final round with a 16-stroke lead over second-place Otterbein. Northern would leave no doubt and pulled away throughout the day, winning by 36 strokes with a school and OAC Tournament record 990 for 54 holes ... Northern's final round 322 ties the OAC Tournament 18-hole team record ... Honigford led wire-to-wire to win Medalist honors, carding a 54-hole school record 81-76-77—234 ... She beat the previous school record of 245 by 11 strokes and finished 12 strokes clear of the field ... Individually, all five ONU golfers earned All-Conference honors by finishing in the top 14 in the 42-woman field ... Senior Annika Neumann was second with an impressive 84-84-78—246, sophomore Torrie Smith was fifth with an 82-91-81—254, senior Lydia Cranmer was sixth with an 82-88-86—256 sixth and sophomore Meghan Utterdyke finished 11th with a 90-91-88—269 ... Honigford leads the team through 14.5 rounds with a 79.1 scoring average this season ... Neumann is second at 81.5 and Cranmer is third at 84.8.
