Women's Golf stands 21st after first round of NCAA Division III Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. —The Ohio Northern women's golf team got off to a slow start in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday at Forest Akers West Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (33-3 overall) are in 21st place in the 25-team field after the first round with a 355 on the par-72, 5818-yard course on Michigan State's campus.
Freshman Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) led ONU on the first day with an 83 and is tied for 43rd in the 131-woman field.
Senior Annika Neumann (Valley City/Avon) is tied for 73rd with an 86, senior Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Ladywood) is tied for 89th with an 88, sophomore Meghan Utterdyke (Lebanon/Fenwick) is tied for 118th with a 98 and sophomore Torrie Smith (Russiaville, Ind./Western) is tied for 123rd with a 102.
Fourth-ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) leads the team standings with a 312, No. 5 George Fox (Ore.) is second at 318 and No. 6 Williams (Mass.) is third with a 320.
Ohio Northern will play round two on Wednesday with tee times beginning at 10:55 am as the tee times were moved back 75 minutes due to expected frost overnight.
Sarah Hsu of Oglethorpe (Ga.), one of the six individuals invited into the championships, leads the field with a 2-over par 74.
The tournament will cut the field after Thursday's third round with the top 15 teams playing the fourth and final round on Friday.
