Junior Anna Schatzle leads Women’s Outdoor Track and Field on first day of Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN — Junior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) set a new personal-best mark in the pole vault to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team on Friday at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.
Friday marked the first of two days for the Invitational, which is not being team scored. The day's events included the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, hammer throw, javelin throw and pole vault.
Schatzle led the ONU contingent with her second-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.61 meters. That new personal-best height ranks seventh all-time at ONU.
Sophomore Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) finished right behind Schatzle in third, clearing a height of 3.31 meters.
Freshman Tarrah BeVier (Johnstown/Northridge) placed fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 27.69 meters.
The Polar Bears added a pair of sixth-place finishes courtesy of freshman Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) in the hammer throw and freshman Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) in the javelin.
Burman threw a distance of 39.11 meters, and Sellers posted a throw of 25.27 meters.
Northern had four other top-10 finishes on the day.
Freshman Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) placed seventh in the javelin with a throw of 21.91 meters and ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.25 meters.
In the pole vault, junior Cienna Kuhn (Elida) finished eighth and freshman Jaclyn Boardman (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) placed ninth with respective heights of 3.16 meters and 2.86 meters.
The Polar Bears will close out the Bob Kahn Invitational on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
