Silva, Fox, 4x400 relay team win for #25 Women's Track and Field at the Flag City Open

FINDLAY — Freshman Kayla Silva (Westerville/South), senior Michaela Fox (Bellevue), and the 4x400 relay team posted victories to pace the No. 25-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team at the Flag City Open at the Malcolm Athletic Center on Saturday.
No team scores were kept for the meet.
Silva won the 60 in a career-best 7.94 seconds while Fox won the 800 in 2:25.84.
The 4x400 relay team of senior Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta), freshmen Emily Norden (Carey) and Mackenzie Detmer (Liberty Center), and senior Sydney McCluer (Columbus Grove) won by .17 seconds in 4:08.99.
Fisher was also seventh in the 200 in :27.73.
In the 1000, sophomore Chyanne Retcher (Ney/Fairview) was second in a career-best 3:11.81 and classmate Kylie Vestal (Youngstown/Austintown Fitch) was third in career-best 3:12.65.
Senior Tia Harris (Newton Falls) was fourth in the shot put with a 12.30-meter toss. Harris also finished fifth in the weight throw with a 14.01-meter throw while junior Ashlynn Hickey (Wilmington) placed sixth with a career-long 13.50-meter throw.
In the 400, freshman Gizem Tanriverdi (Ada) finished sixth in 1:07.54.
"It was a good all-around performance for the women," ONU head coach Jason Maus. "We looking forward to hosting the OAC Championships meet this upcoming weekend."
The Polar Bears will return to action at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday for the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.
