Avery Ewing leads Women's Track and Field team on Day 2 of Findlay Alumni Classic

FINDLAY — Senior Avery Ewing (Kokomo/Eastern) placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:20.76 to lead the Ohio Northern women's track and field team on the second day of the Findlay Alumni Classic & Elite Throws meet on Saturday afternoon at the Malcolm Athletic Center.
Ewing was also a part of the distance medley relay team with sophomore Chyanne Retcher (Ney/Fairview) and seniors Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta) and Madeleine Routhier (West Unity/Hilltop) which finished second in 13:08.90.
Freshman Kayla Silva (Westerville/South) and junior Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore/Findlay) finished 3-4 the 60 dash in 8.04 and 8.05 seconds, respectively.
In the 200 dash, Silva was fourth in :27.00 and Lavey was fifth in :27.04.
The 4x400 relay team of freshman Courtney Smith (North Huntingdon/Norwin), Lillian Hirschfeld (Minster) and Emily Norden (Carey) and junior Melinda McIntosh (Farmersville/Valley View) placed fourth in 4:17.54.
In the long jump, sophomore Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch) was third with a leap of 5.28 meters.
Senior Tia Harris (Newton Falls) was fourth in the open weight throw with a toss of 14.74 meters.

The Polar Bears will continue their season on Saturday when they host the annual Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.
