This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern women's track and field program continues its 2019 indoor season this weekend with a trip to the two-day Findlay Alumni Classic & Elite Throws meet at nearby NCAA Division II institution Findlay ... The women will kick off the weekend on Friday with the pole vault competition beginning at 3:30 p.m. while the men start with the high jump event at 5 p.m. inside the Malcolm Athletic Center ... Action resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the men's and women's long jump and the women's open class weight throw ... Last weekend, junior pole vault specialist Maggie Krause, senior mid-distance runner Avery Ewing, and sophomore distance runner Megan Wright each won individual event titles at the Tiffin Dragon Open to lead the team in their first meet this season ... Krause cleared the bar at 3.76 meters to claim the pole vault title and rank third among all NCAA Division III student-athletes in the event ... For her efforts, Krause claimed OAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career ... Meanwhile, Ewing and Wright captured the mile and the 3,000-meter run titles, respectively ... Ewing edged out sophomore Chyanne Retcher, who claimed runner-up honors, for the event title with a 5:31.30 clocking ... Wright would lead freshmen Rue Whitmore and Tessa Pitcovich to a 1-2-3 finish in the 3k with a 10:55.76 mark ... In addition, senior Michaela Fox, junior Madeleine Routhier, sophomore Kylie Vestal, and freshman Taylor Ellerbrock would team up to end second in the distance medley relay in 13:35.16 ... Ewing, junior Melinda McIntosh, and freshmen Courtney Smith and Renee Lange also finished among the top-three on the track, posting a third-place effort in the 4x400-meter relay ... In the field, senior thrower Tia Harris launched the shot put 12.98 meters to reset her previous program record and lead all NCAA Division III throwers at the meet ... Sophomore jumper/sprinter Stella DeWitt rounded out the team's top-three marks after finishing third in the triple jump with a 10.08-meter leap.
