Women's Swimming and Diving: Ohio Northern (6-4 Overall) at OAC Championships

This Week's Championships: The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team travels to Akron this week for the 82nd annual Ohio Athletic Conference Championships … The meet will be held at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium … Preliminary races Thursday, Friday and Saturday will begin at 10 a.m. each day … The finals will begin at 6 pm each day ... In a change this year, the 800-yard free relay will be held on Wednesday night at 7:40 pm ... The top 16 swimmers will score team points in each event ... The top 8 qualifiers after the prelims will compete for the league title and the next eight qualifiers will compete in the consolation race for places 9-16 ... The top three finishers in the 15 individual events and the top two relay teams in each of the five relay events will earn All-Conference honors ... The Polar Bears boast the top seed in seven of the 13 individual swimming events, including three by freshman Mara Brown ... Brown is the top seed in the 100 fly (:59.65), the 200 fly (2:17.61) and the 200 I.M. (2:14.78) ... Senior Megan Lubinski looks to defend her OAC titles in the 50 and 100 free as the top seed in each event with times of :24.42 in the 50 and :53.50 in the 100 ... Lubinski is a 9-time All-OAC honoree and is looking for her fourth consecutive All-OAC award in the 50 free ... Junior Shelby Starkey is the top seed in the 100 back (1:00.41) and the 200 back (2:09.42) ... She is a 3-time All-OAC performer and was second in the 200 back a year ago ... Junior Abby Schauer is is the top seed in the 400 I.M. (4:55.13) ... Sophomore Katie Bend is seeded second in the 1650 free (11:10.91 for 1000 yards) ... She was All-OAC in the event last year with a second place finish ... Seniors Lauren Shaw (200 medley relay) and Mya Parsons (200 fly, 400 medley relay) are also returning All-Conference honorees for the Polar Bears.
