Ohio Northern uses solid final day to finish second at OAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships

AKRON — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team wrapped up a second place finish with a solid effort on the final day of the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at Ocasek Natatorium.
Junior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) and sophomore Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) each had second place finishes to earn All-Conference honors.
Starkey was second in the 200 back in 2:09.80 and Bend was second in the 1650 free in 18:20.45.
Senior Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) was third in the 100 free in :53.42 to earn All-OAC kudos.
Lubinski, senior Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton), junior Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) and freshman Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) had an All-Conference effort in the 400 free relay, finishing second in 3:38.69.
The Polar Bears finished second out of five teams in the 20 events with 744 points.
John Carroll won the team title with 950 points, Mount Union was third with 716, Baldwin Wallace was fourth with 280 and Wilmington was fifth with 195.
The top three finishers in individual events and top two finishers in relays earn All-Conference honors.
