Women's Swimming and Diving wins the 400 Medley Relay to highlight Day 1 of OAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Ohio Northern on Day 1 of the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday night at Ocasek Natatorium.
Junior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine, senior Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton), freshman Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) and senior Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) won the 400 medley relay in 4:01.65.
The victory broke a string of seven consecutive wins in the event for John Carroll and is ONU's 11th title since 1997.
Brown also had an All-Conference swim in the 200 I.M., finishing second in 2:12.17.
Sophomore Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) earned All-OAC honors in the 500 free, placing third in 5:18.91.
The Polar Bears are in third place out of five teams after six of 20 events with 209 points.
John Carroll leads with 258 points, Mount Union is second with 229, Baldwin Wallace is fourth with 174 and Wilmington is fifth with 87.
The top three finishers in individual events and top two finishers in relays earn All-Conference honors.
The first complete day of the Championships will get underway on Thursday with prelims at 10 am.
