This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern women's soccer team begins its 2019 season at the Tartan Cup on the campus of Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) … The Polar Bears are slated to play Washington & Jefferson College (Pa.) at CMU Soccer Field Friday at 6 p.m. … Northern wraps up the Tartan Cup taking on host Carnegie Mellon at CMU Soccer Field Sunday at 1:30 p.m. … The Polar Bears finished the 2018 season with a 14-4-1 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in OAC play, which placed them second … That marked the fifth consecutive year that Northern finished in the top two of the final conference standings … ONU's season came to an end in the OAC Tournament Championship match where they fell to Otterbein 1-0 in double overtime … 16th-year head coach Mark Batman welcomes back 21 varsity letter winners … Senior goalkeeper Meagan Grierson anchors the team, having earned OAC Goaltender of the Year in each of her three seasons in Ada … She currently sports a record of 49-10-3 with a school record 32 shutouts … Junior Sydney Leshnak headlines the defensive unit after being named first-team All-OAC in 2018 … Senior Haley Moses also garnered first-team All-OAC recognition for her play in the midfield … Junior Jenna Fuller rounds out the Polar Bears first-team All-OAC honorees after she netted a team-best 16 goals last season, and senior midfielder Hannah Martin earned second-team All-OAC recognition.
