Saturday's Game: The Polar Bears will get their 2022 season underway with a 12 pm contest on Sunday at Kalamazoo (Mich.) under seventh-year head coach Beth Hemminger ... The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed until Sunday due to heavy snow expected in the area ... It will be the first non-conference contest for ONU since 2020 ... Coming off a 2021 season in which it earned its first Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament bid in program history, the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team returns 18 letter winners as it looks to build on that achievement in 2022 under seventh-year head coach Beth Hemminger ... "We've seen a lot of growth over the last few years," Hemminger said. "We've had a lot of youth, so last season was a good opportunity for our players to get a lot of experience. Now our younger girls are elevating their games and stepping up into leadership roles." ... Sophomore Sydney Kilgore leads the ONU returners with 49 goals, 20 assists, 69 points and 87 shots on goal ... Her 20 assists are an ONU single-season record and her 69 points broke the freshman record ... She also set single game records with 8 assists and tied school records with 8 goals and 10 points ... Sophomore Emily Miller (31) and Noel Orioli (24) were second and third in goals, respectively ... Orioli was third with nine assists and second with 33 points among returners ... Senior Kaitlin Thompson is second among returners with 11 assists ... Kalamazoo is coming off a 6-8 record a year ago, competing only against MIAA opponents.
