Saturday's Preview: The Polar Bears will open the home portion their 2018 campaign with a 5 pm non-conference contest with Trine (Ind.) at Dial-Robseron Stadium ... The game will be the second game of a men's/women's double header with the ONU men hosting Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) at 1 pm ... Ohio Northern opened its 2018 season on Thursday evening with a 16-9 victory at Hiram ... Northern was led by freshman Sydney Skelding, who scored an impressive six goals in her collegiate debut ... Sophomore Maggie Fuller and freshman Sabra Woodruff each record hat-tricks in the victory, scoring three goals each ... Woodruff picked up a team-best six ground balls and added a game-high five caused turnovers, while sophomore Jacqui Lohman had a team-high five draw controls ... Trine graduated its top four scorers from last year's team that finished 3-12 overall ... The Thunder are led by senior Rebecca Plantz, who last year was the on pace to be the team's leading goal scorer before she was sidelined by injury during the team's fourth game of the season ... In her career at Trine, she has amassed 47 goals ... Another crucial returner is goalie Audrey Poteet, who started all of the team's games last season. She finished the season leading the MIAA in total saves with 206 and came in second with a 49 save percentage.
