Softball drops OAC doubleheader against Mount Union on Dedication Day of new Durbin-Hileman Stadium

ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against Mount Union, falling 6-1 and 11-0 on Dedication Day of new Durbin-Hileman Stadium on a warm and windy Saturday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (21-15 overall, 9-7 OAC), Mount Union (31-4 overall, 14-0 OAC).

Game 1 - L, 1-6
- The game remained scoreless until Mount Union scored first in the top of fourth inning.
- The Purple Raiders scored again in the top of the fifth and scored three runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 5-0.
- Junior Mariana Alejandro (Gibsonburg) hit a triple to lead off the bottom of the sixth and then scored Ohio Northern's lone run off an MTU error.
- Mount Union scored again in the top of the seventh, making the score 6-1.
- Alejandro led the Polar Bears with two hits.
- Junior Ashley Lenser (Brookville) pitched a complete game, striking out four.
- MTU out-hit ONU 8-6.
Game 2 - L, 0-11 (5 innings)
- Mount Union started off scoring with three runs in the top of the second inning.
- The Purple Raiders scored five more in the top of the fourth and added a three-run homer in the fifth to make the score 11-0.
- Fifth-year senior Sydney Motylinski (Ida, Mich.), and sophomores Allie Wilson (Wapakoneta) and Kylie King (London/Jonathan Alder) each went 1-for-2 for the Polar Bears.
- Freshman Taylor Keck (Wadsworth) pitched the first 3.1 innings and senior Kayla Runyon (Tipp City) finished the last 1.2.
- MTU out-hit ONU 13-4.
Notables
- Motylinski now has 144 career base hits and 102 career RBIs. She ranks tied for 10th all-time in ONU history with her 102 RBIs.
- Rosser, Wilson and Motylinski lead Ohio Northern in batting through 36 games this season with averages of .395, .394 and .364, respectively.
- Lenser is now 33-15 in her career with 214 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA in the circle. She is ranked tenth all-time at ONU for wins, seventh in strikeouts, and seventh in ERA.
- ONU is now 58-48-1 all-time against MTU, including a 31-23-1 mark in Ada.
- The Polar Bears are currently in fourth place in the OAC Regular Season standings and need one win in their season-ending double header at Heidelberg next Saturday to clinch a spot in the 4-team OAC Tournament.
