ALMA, Mich. — The Ohio Northern softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Alma (Mich.) on Sunday.
The Basics
- ONU won the opener 8-3 and took the night game 13-3.
- Records: Ohio Northern (17-9 overall), Alma (17-9 overall).
- Venue: Scots Park - Alma, Mich.
Game 1 - W, 8-3
- A 4-run fourth inning broke open a tight 3-2 game and gave Ohio Northern a 7-2 lead in the first game of the doubleheader.
- Junior Ashley Lenser (Brookeville) went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs to lead ONU's offense.
- Freshman Taylor Keck (Wadsworth) scattered eight hits and struck out three to earn the complete-game victory and improve to 4-0 on the season.
- Junior Callie Rosser (Republic/Monroeville) and sophomores Allie Wilson (Wapakoneta) and Lainie Howell (Upper Sandusky/Riverdale) also had two hits in the game.
- ONU out-hit AC 12-8.
Game 2 - W, 13-3
- Lenser threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit shutout ball to grab the win and improve to 8-1 on the season.
- Northern scored twice in the top of the second and four more times in the sixth to go up 6-0, then exploded for seven more runs in the seventh to go up 13-0.
- The Polar Bears then sent 12 batters to the plate in a 7-run seventh.
- Fifth-year senior Sydney Motylinski (Ida, Mich.) doubled, homered, scored three times and drove in four runs to lead ONU's 14-hit attack.
- Howell was 3-for-4 and Schroeder was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
- Sophomore Kylie King (London/Jonathan Alder), freshman Carlie Schroeder (Wapakoneta) and Howell had back-to-back-to-back run-scoring singles to score four unearned runs in the sixth.
- ONU out-hit AC 14-7.

- Howell finished the day 5-for-8 with 3 runs and 2 RBI, while Schroeder was 4-for-8 with 2 runs.
- Motylinski was 3-for-7 with a home run and 6 RBI on the day.
