Elliott, Murray Rosser, Hilty named Academic All-District in Softball by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Ohio Northern fifth-year senior Abby Elliott (Loveland/Ursuline), senior Annika Murray (Hilliard/Bradley) and sophomores Callie Rosser (Republic/Monroeville) and Taylor Hilty (Kettering/Fairmont) were named 2023 Academic All-District in softball by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA and have played in at least 50 percent of her team's games or pitched at least 10 innings during the season.
Elliott, a pharmacy major, tied for the team lead with 15 RBIs this season and finished second on the team in batting average (.317) and hits (32) while adding 19 runs and two home runs and posting a .969 fielding percentage in the outfield over 34 games.
In five seasons at ONU, Elliott has amassed 150 hits, 24 doubles, six triples, five home runs, 73 RBIs and 93 runs while batting .309 in 159 games. She ranks 14th all-time at ONU in career hits.
Murray batted .250 in 2023, tallying 20 hits, four doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs in 31 games, primarily at shortstop.
The mathematics and physics major is a career .248 hitter with 69 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 49 runs over 110 games.
Rosser was the Polar Bears' primary designated player in 2023 and led the team in batting average (.320), hits (39) and steals (5) and tied for the team lead in RBIs (15) and runs (23) while adding six doubles and one home run in 34 games.
In 51 career games, the exercise physiology major has 47 hits, six doubles, one home run, 20 RBIs and 26 runs while batting .309.
Hilty played in 34 games in 2023 and posted a .217 batting average with 15 hits, one home run, four RBIs and nine runs while serving as the team's primary second baseman.
The exercise physiology major has played in 55 career games at ONU during which she has batted .222 with 26 hits, one double, one home run, 12 RBIs and 12 runs.
The 2023 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 6.
The Polar Bears finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 19-17 and tied for fifth in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-9 mark under seventh-year head coach Jackie Price.
