AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Ohio Northern baseball team opened its annual spring break trip with a double header split against Concordia (Tex.) on Saturday at Lake Myrtle Field No. 7.
The Polar Bears (3-2 overall) took the nightcap 4-2 after the Tornados (10-6) won the opener 9-0.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth of game two, senior Nate Webb (Bath, Ind./Union County) had a two-out, two-run double to score sophomore Joey Kennedy (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Foley Catholic) and senior Jacob Wenning (Coldwater) to make it 3-2.
Freshman Chase Armstrong (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) followed with a double to score Webb with an insurance run to give the Polar Bears a 4-2 lead.
Sophomore Vaughn Duncan (Springfield) pitched two innings of hitless relief to pick up his second save of the season.
Junior Noah Truax (Lewis Center/Bishop Watterson) allowed only one earned run in five strong innings to pick up the win.
The Polar Bears will play again on Monday with a double header against Simpson (Iowa).
