Meet Preview: Fifth-year senior Tessa Pitcovich will represent the Ohio Northern women's cross country team at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at Michigan State's Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing … Between its men's and women's cross country teams, ONU has been represented at the national meet every year since 2005 … The meet is being hosted by Olivet College and the Greater Lansing Sports Authority … The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by the men's race at 12 p.m. … The top 40 finishers will earn All-American honors … Pitcovich has now qualified for the national meet in two consecutive seasons and three times in her career … In her previous appearances, she placed 77th overall with a time of 22:40 as a sophomore in 2019 and finished 139th with a time of 22:41 as a senior last season … Last season, Pitcovich earned the women's cross country NCAA Elite 90 award, which is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships … She was the first female athlete at ONU to win the award … Pitcovich earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors for the fourth time in her career with a second-place finish at the conference meet earlier this season, running a time of 22:36 … She qualified for this year's national meet with a fifth-place showing in the Great Lakes Regionals at Three Fires Golf Club in Holland, Mich., on Nov. 12 … She ran a personal-best time of 21:22 and earned All-Region honors for the third time in her career … Her time of 21:22 ranks third all-time at ONU for 6,000 meters … Pitcovich ran a time of 22:46 for a 27th-place finish at the Pre-National Meet at Forest Akers East Golf Course earlier this season, on Oct. 1.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th year as head coach of the ONU men's and women's cross country teams and is the winningest coach in school history for both programs … Over 13 seasons at ONU, he has guided the men's team to a 1,379-371 record, a winning percentage of .788, and four OAC titles and the women's team to a 1,188-472 record, a winning percentage of .716, and three OAC championships.
