Saturday's Preview: The Ohio Northern women's cross country team will get its final tune-up before the OAC Championships on Oct. 29 on Saturday at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble … The women's 6k race starts the day at 10:30 a.m. … The men's varsity race is at 11:15 a.m., the women's open race is at Noon and the men's open race concludes the competition at 12:45 p.m. … A total of 33 NCAA Division III teams are expcted to compete in the varsity race … ONU is coming off a 9th place finish of 36 teams at the Pre-National Meet at East Lansing, Mich., on Oct. 1 … The Polar Bears scored 307 points and finished behind eight other teams ranked in this week's USTFCCCA Division III poll ... Fifth-year senior Tessa Pitcovich led the Polar Bears across the finish line, placing 27th of 316 runners with a time of 22:46 on the 6,000-meter course ... Fifth-year senior Taylor Ellerbrock was 35th in 23:02, junior Megan Vapenik was 81st in 23:46, freshman Samantha Roth was 84th in a personal-best 23:49, freshman Kennedy Rader was 87th in a personal-best 23:51, sophomore Ashley Hockstok was 90th in a personal-best 23:55 and sophomore Bailey Kreft was 107th in a personal-best 24:07 to round out ONU's top seven finishers.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th year as head coach of the ONU men's and women's cross country teams and is the winningest coach in school history for both programs … He has guided the women's team to a 1,129-458 record, a winning percentage of .710, and three OAC championships.
