ADA — Ohio Northern fifth-year senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.
This marks the second such accolade for Pitcovich in her career, as she also earned it once as a senior in 2021.
Pitcovich earned the honor after leading the No. 31 Polar Bears to a ninth-place finish of 36 teams at the Pre-National Meet at Forest Akers East Golf Course on Saturday.
She placed 27th of 316 runners, posting a season-best time of 22:46 on the 6,000-meter course where the NCAA Division III Championships will be held in November.
The Polar Bears (60-9 overall) scored 307 points and finished behind eight other teams that are nationally ranked in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
Pitcovich currently holds the fourth-fastest time in ONU history for a 6,000-meter course at 22:08 and is a two-time national qualifier.
Northern returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Oberlin Region Rumble.
