ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern men's cross country team will compete in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday … The meet will be held at the Blue River Memorial Park in Shelbyville, Ind. … The men are slated to run an 8k race at 11:00 a.m. while the women will compete ina 6k race at 12:15 p.m. … The first place finishing team will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA DIII National Championships in Louisville, Ky., along with the first place teams in the other nine regionals, and then 22 at-large bids will be awarded on Sunday ... The top-7 individuals not on a team qualifying for the NCAA DIII National Championships will receive an individual bid as well ... The top-35 finishers will be named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team ... The Polar Bears have placed in the top half of the field in five of their six meets this season … Northern is fresh off a third-place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships two weekends ago … In that race, senior Tessa Pitcovich led the way finishing second of the 120 runners in 23:17.4 earning 1st Team All-OAC honors … Seniors Rue Whitmore and Taylor Ellerbrock finished in 12th and 13th place, respectively both earning Second Team All-OAC honors in 24:09.3, and 24:12.5, respectively ... Freshmen Olyvia Ashbrook and Bailey Kreft rounded out ONU's top five placing 27th and 28th, respectively in 24:56.0 and 24:58.7 ... The Polar Bears finished 10th at the 2019 Regional Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich., as the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
