ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern women's cross country team — ranked sixth in the Great Lakes Region — will race in its second meet of the season Friday … The Polar Bears travel to Cedarville to race in the All-Ohio Championships … The women's 6K is scheduled to run at 2:45 p.m. while the men's 8K will start at 2 p.m ... The field includes 14 Division III teams from across Ohio ... Each school can run nine competitors in the championship races … There will also be open races for remaining competitors … The women's open 6K starts at 4:15 p.m. following the start of the men's 8K open race at 3:30 p.m. … The meet is scored four different ways: overall, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II/NAIA and NCAA Division III … The course is all grass, with slightly rolling hills and is located on the north side of the Cedarville University campus ... Northern finished second of five teams Saturday, Sept. 4, in the ONU Invitational ... In Ohio Northern's first meet of the season, senior Tessa Pitcovich led the Polar Bears across the finish line in 18:45 for the 5,000-meter course, as she was third out of 76 runners overall ... Senior Taylor Ellerbrock and freshman Olyvia Ashbrook finished 6th and 10th, clocking in at 19:12 and 19:32, respectively ... Freshman Bailey Kreft was 11th in 19:33, and senior Rue Whitmore was 13th in 19:33 ... The Polar Bears took sixth in a field of 16 in the All-Ohio Championships in 2019.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 13th season as head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams … In 12 seasons at ONU, he has guided the men's cross country teams to a 1,174-295 record, a .799 win percentage, and four Ohio Athletic Conference crowns, while the women's cross country teams have compiled a 974-418 record, a .700 win percentage, and three OAC titles … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern school history for both men's and women's cross-country.
