Quartet of Polar Bears honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association

ADA — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2019 Cross Country All-Academic Teams and Athletes. 

The Polar Bears were named an All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA north of 3.1. There were 212 other teams that were honored. 

In addition to the team award, senior Kathleen Colvin (Hilliard/Bishop Ready), junior Megan Wright (Eaton/Twin Valley South), sophomore Rue Whitmore (Mason) and sophomore Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) all garnered All-Academic honors. In order to qualify, athletes must have at least a 3.3 GPA and finish inside the top 25 percent of their regional meet. There were a total of 378 athletes that won the honor. 

The Polar Bears closed the season with a seventh-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional. Pitcovich advanced to the NCAA Championships, finishing 77th.
