ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern men's cross country team returns to action on Friday at the Wilmington Jenna Strong Fall Invitational ... The women's 6k championship race will start tat 4:30 p.m. while the men's 8k race is slated to begin at 5:15 p.m. ... A total of 43 teams are expected to compete, including 14 NCAA Division III programs ... ONU is coming off a solid fifth place finish at the All-Ohio Championships on Sept. 29 ... Freshman Tessa Pitcovich and sophomore Megan Wright led a close-knit Ohio Northern pack that finished 12 seconds apart to the finish line ... Pitcovich was the team's top finisher for the second time this season after crossing the tape in 23:46.4 to end 24th overall ... Meanwhile, Wright would take the 25th spot with a 23:47.2 clocking ... Just five seconds would separate freshman Sophia Thompson, sophomore Chyanne Retcher, and senior Avery Ewing Saturday afternoon as the trio finished third-through-fifth for the Polar Bears and 28th, 29th, and 30th overall, respectively.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 10th season as head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams at Ohio Northern ... He enters the weekend with a record of 817-366, good for a winning percentage of .690 … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern school history for both men's and women's cross country.
