WINNECONNE, WIS. -- Sophomore Emily Richards represented the Ohio Northern women's cross country team at the 2015 NCAA III Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
Richards finished in the top half of the field in the 6k event, finishing 112th out of 280 runners in 22:25.0.
Williams (Ma.) took first place in the team standings, Geneseo State (N.Y.) finished second and MIT (Ma.) finished third.
This is the first time that the Ohio Northern women's cross country team has been represented at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships since 2012.
"I think it was a really good race for Emily," said head coach Jason Maus. "This is her first time competing at the national meet in cross country and I thought she handled it really well. This gives her something to build off of and look forward to in the future."
"This was kind of unfamiliar territory for me," said Richards. "This was really my first time competing in a meet of this caliber. There was a lot of really good competition here and now I have something to build off of and hopefully finish better next year."
