Women's Cross Country finishes 7th of 20 teams at Rochester (N.Y.)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Ohio Northern women's cross country team finished seventh of 20 teams at the Rochester (N.Y.) Yellowjacket Invitational Saturday at Genesee Valley Park.

The Polar Bears (34-13 overall) finished with 222 points.

Ivy-league member Cornell (N.Y.) won the race with 18 points, Rochester (N.Y.) was second wih 87 points and RIT (N.Y.) was third with 89 points.

Sophomore Emily Richards led ONU with a 29th place finish out of 276 runners. She finished the 6,000-meter run in 23:26.

Freshman Ashlie Baumann was 54th in 24:13, senior Rebekah McCutchen was 61st in 24:22, junior Genevieve Marchese was 70th in 24:22 and sophomore Nikki Huber was 87th in 24:49 for Ohio Northern.

Cornell's Taylor Spillane won the race in 21:32.

The Polar Bears will take next weekend off and return to action Oct. 2 at the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville.
