Cross Country: NCAA III Great Lakes Regional Championships at Calvin (Mich.)

Saturday's Race: The Ohio Northern men's and women's cross country teams will be competing at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by Calvin (Mich.). The women will run a 6,000-meter race at 11 am with the men following at Noon with an 8,000-meter race. The top-35 finishers will receive All-Region honors. The top two teams from each of the eith regional championships will receive automatic bids to the NCAA III Championships on Nov. 23 at Hanover, Ind. There will also be 16 at-large bids given nationally to teams that did not automatically qualify. The top seven finishers at each of the eight Regional Championships races not on teams that were selected either as an automatic qualifier or an at-large qualifier, will participate as individuals at the NCAA Championships.
Women: The women's cross country team finished fifth out of 10 teams at the 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships with 164 points on Nov. 2. Senior Laura Avino led a tight pack of ONU runners across the finish line with a 32nd place finish out of 137 runners in 24:47 on the 6,000-meter course.
Men: The men's cross country team is coming off a 2nd place finish at the 10-team Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2 and were idle last week. Junior Nathan Rosenbaum and senior Tyler Feitshans earned 1st Team All-Conference honors with top nine finishes and senior Mark Berton and sophomore Eric Wymer earned 2nd Team honors as Berton finished 10th iand Wyner was 14th. Berton was an All-Region honoree in 2012 with a 21st place finish.
