Updated - Steinbrunner, Weaver lead Women's Cross Country to school record third consecutive OAC Championships title

WILMINGTON — Senior All-American Alison Steinbrunner and senior Lydia Weaver finished 1-2 to lead No. 34-ranked Ohio Northern to the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championships title Saturday afternoon at the Wilmington Cross Country Course.
The Polar Bears (79-22 overall) won the team title with 48 points, edging Mount Union (57 points) and John Carroll (67 points) for the crown.
The final team and individual results were altered on Nov. 16 after Baldwin Wallace withdrew from all post-season competition in response to self-reported NCAA rules violations.
The change adds senior Casey Adamcik to the list of All-Conference honorees, moving her up from 20th place to 18th place in the individual standings. The top-18 individuals earn All-OAc honors.
Steinbrunner had a record-setting afternoon as well, winning her OAC-record fourth consecutive individual title.
She won the event by a full 42 seconds in 22:12 for the 6,000-meter course.
Five Polar Bear runners earned All-OAC honors by finishing in the top 18 out of 127 runners.
Weaver finished second in 22:54, sophomore Catie Huber was 13th in 24:17, freshman Aya Tomozawa was 16th in 24:27 and senior Casey Adamcik was 18th in 24:37.
Senior Sarah Turley was 19th with an identical time of 24:37.
The victory was the sixth conference championship in the last eight seasons for Ohio Northern, as ONU previously won the title in 2005, '06, '08, '10, and '11.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 13, with the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships at Anderson, Ind.
