Senior Hannah Friend named OAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 24-30.

The recognition comes after setting three personal records to lead the women to a sixth place finish at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on Saturday. She finished second in the discus at 43.44 meters, was fifth in the shot put at 12.88 meters and was 10th in the hammer at 46.20 meters, all of which moved her up on ONU's top-10 lists.

Friend ranks first in the OAC and 9th nationally in the discus. She ranks second in the OAC and 14th nationally in the shot put. She ranks third in the OAC and 37th nationally in the hammer.

This is Friend's first time receiving the honor in her career.

The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday at the Manchester (Ind.) Invitational.
