Burman, Schweller, Ford receive bids to compete at NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships
ADA — Three members of the Ohio Northern Women's Indoor Track and Field team received bids on Sunday evening to participate in the NCAA III Indoor Championships on March 14-15 in Rochester, N.Y.
Junior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding), senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) and junior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) will all compete at the Championships on Friday.
Schweller and Ford qualified in the pole vault and will compete on Friday morning at 11 am, while Burman will compete in thew weight throw on Friday at 3:30 pm.
Schweller is tied for fifth nationally with a season-best height of 3.94 meters, which is the second-best effort in ONU history. She was ninth at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships (3.77m) and earned All-America honors Outdoors last spring, finishing fifth by clearing 3.84 meters.
Burman is seeded 17th nationally in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 17.72 meters. She is the school record holder in the event at 17.90 meters. Last season, she was 19th at the NCAA Indoor Championships (15.84m)
Ford is making her first appearance at the NCAAs and is seeded 18th after clearing 3.79 meters. She is fifth all-time in ONU history with that mark.
The top 20 individuals in each event qualify for the NCAA III Championships. The top eight finishers earn All-America honors.
The Polar Bears finished the regular season 37-4 Overall.
