Women's Track and Field takes 12 athletes to compete at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Friday

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Junior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) was second of 21 in her section of the 5,000-meter run in a career-best 17:42.87 to lead a group of 12 members of the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet on Friday.

- The meet consisted of 16 events, including six field events, 9 running events and the 4x400 relay.

- Junior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) was second of 21 in section #3 of the 5,000-meter run in a career-best 17:42.87.
- Senior Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) was 14th in that section in 18:14.63 and junior Kennedy Rader (Mason) was 17th in the section in 18:29.14.
- Seniors Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton), Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) and Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) competed in the shot put.
- Burman was seventh of 25 with a PR toss of 13.47 meters, Friend was 21st at a PR of 12.26 meters and Sellers was 22nd at 12.16 meters.
- Burman was fourth of 35 in the weight throw at 17.44 meters and Friend was 22nd in 15.38 meters.
- Junior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) was fifth of 25 in section #6 of the 5k in 18:26.65.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) was sixth of 19 in the high jump, clearing 1.58m, followed by junior Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) in 12th at 1.53 meters.
- Junior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) was sixth of 19 in the pole vault by clearing 3.70 meters. Junior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) was 14th at 3.55 meters.
- Sophomore AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) was 37th of 52 in the 3,000 in a season-best 10:13.64.
Notables
- Roth's 17:42.87 in the 5k puts her 4th all-time at ONU.
- Friend is now sixth all-time in ONU history in the weight throw with her toss of 50' 5.5".
- Burman's shot put of 44' 2.5 " ties her personal best and keeps her 2nd all-time at ONU.
- Friend broke her PR in the shot with a toss of 40' 2.75", which keeps her 8th all-time in ONU history.
- Hockstok improved her career-best time in the 5k to 18:14.63 and remains 10th on ONU's all-time list in the event.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 599-177-1 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .772. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
