Izzy Burman and Tatum Walsh named Women's Field and Track Athletes of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) and freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) were named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field and Track Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 27-Feb 2.
This is Burman's sixth time receiving the honor in her career and Walsh's first career accolade.
The recognition for Burman comes after sweeping the throwing events with season-best efforts at the annual Joe Banks Invitational on Friday night. She won the shot put with a toss of 13.47 meters and won the weight throw with a heave of 17.72 meters.
The recognition for Walsh comes after breaking her own school record in the 200-meter dash that she set on Jan. 17. She won the 200 in 25.65 seconds and also won the 60 in 7.84 seconds.
Burman ranks first in the OAC and 11th nationally in the weight throw. She also ranks first in the OAC and 14th nationally in the shot put.
Walsh ranks first in the OAC and 26th nationally in the 200. She also ranks second in the OAC in the 60.
Burman was the OAC Champion in the weight throw and placed fourth in the shot put last year at the indoor conference meet. She was also a USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honoree for weight throw for the 2023-2024 indoor season.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Ashland Open.
