Freshman Tatum Walsh breaks school record in 200, leads Women's Indoor Track and Field to victory in Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational

ADA — Freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) broke the school record in the 200-meter dash, leading the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team to a victory in its 2024-25 home opener on Friday night with the Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.

- Ohio Northern was first of four teams with 208 points.
- John Carroll was second with 140.5 points, St. Francis (Ind.) was third with 70 points and Bluffton was fourth with 25.5 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Walsh won the 200 in :25.88, .08 of a second faster than the previous record of :25.96 set in 2018 by Taylor Lavey. Walsh was second in the 60 dash in :07.96.
- Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) won the weight throw with a toss of 17.61 meters.
- Sophomore AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) and junior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) finished 1-2 in the 3000-meter run, finishing in 10:31.88 and 10:46.01, respectively.
- Junior Claire Schweller (Paulding) won the pole vault by clearing 3.82 meters and junior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) was second in the event at 3.47 meters.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) won the high jump by clearing 1.63 meters and junior Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) was second at 1.60 meters.
- Sophomore Lauryn Wolters (Anna) won the triple jump with a leap of 10.40 meters. Sophomore Ashley Baker (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) was second at 10.10 meters.
- Freshman Je'Leycia Procter (Dayton/Early College) and senior Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) were 1-2 in the 60 hurdles in 9.43 and 9.73 seconds, respectively.
- Sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) won the weight throw with a toss of 11.55 meters.
- Wolters was also second in the long jump at 5.28 meters.
- Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was second in the weight throw at 14.91 meters and was second in the shot put at 11.44 meters.
- Sophomore Paige Simpson (Merrillville, Ind.) was second in the 200 in :26.60 and senior Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) was third in :27.03.
- The 4x200 relay team of freshman Alexa Lane (Lebanon), junior Stacey Legg (Monroeville), freshman Anastacia Rogan (Bellefontaine/Calvary Christian) and senior Katelyn Messner (Granville) won in 1:54.50.
Notables
- A ceremony was held before the meet to unveil a new state of the art graphics board, which was donated by Rob and Patty Lydic.
- The meet consisted of 16 events, including six field events, eight running events and two relays.
- The top two finishers for each team scored points in the event.
- Northern won 9 of the 16 events on the evening.
- Wolters' leap in the long jump (17' 4") tied her personal best and keeps her in the No. 9 spot on ONU's all-time long jump list.
- Proctor's :09.43 in the 60 hurdles puts her 8th on ONU's all-time list.
- Gerken set a personal best in the high jump. Her effort ties her for sixth all-time in ONU history in the event.
- Walsh moved into fourth place on ONU's all-time list in the 60 with her :07.96 clocking.
- Friend moved into seventh place in the weight throw list with her toss of 48' 11".
- Senior Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) threw the shot 40' 2.25" to put her sixth on ONU's all-time list.
- Krichbaum is now 9th on ONU's 200 list with her :27.03.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 579-177-1 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .768.
