Senior Izzy Burman breaks own record in shot put, leads Women's Indoor Track and Field team in season opener at Findlay

FINDLAY — Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) set a PR in the shot put, leading the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team in its 2024-25 season opener on Friday night at the Findlay Oiler Opener.

- The meet consisted of 12 events, including six field events, five running events and the 4x400 relay.
- Ohio Northern was fourth of 10 teams with 32 points.
- Findlay won the team title with 169 points, Hillsdale (Mich.) was second with 116.5 points, Windsor (Ont.) was third with 64.5 points and Dayton was fifth with 21 points.

- Burman tossed the shot 13.14 meters, breaking her own PR of 13.06 meters.
- She was also fourth in the weight throw with a heave of 16.86 meters.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) won the high jump by clearing 1.62 meters.
- Sophomore Lauryn Wolters (Anna) was second in the long jump at 5.28 meters.
- Junior Claire Schweller (Paulding) tied for fourth in the pole vault by clearing 3.72 meters.
- Junior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) was seventh in the event at 3.57 meters.
- Sophomore Ashley Baker (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) was seventh in the triple jump at 10.59 meters.
- Freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) was ninth in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.46.
Notables
- The meet consisted of more than 10 teams from NCAA Division I, II and III teams along with Canadian school Windor (Ont.)
- Wolters' leap in the long jump was a personal best. She moves into the No. 9 spot on ONU's all-time long jump list.
- Ford set a personal best in the pole vault. Her effort keeps her at No. 9 all-time in ONU history.
- Baker's triple jump of 10.59 meters was her PR.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 576-177-1 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .765.
