Five Polar Bears named to College Sports Communicators Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team

ADA — Ohio Northern juniors Jaclyn Boardman (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community), Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton), Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood), Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) and Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) were named to the 2023-24 Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.50 and must have posted an individual top 50 mark in the region in an individual event (XC, indoor or outdoor).
Boardman was the Ohio Athletic Conference Champion in the javelin outdoors where she was 20th in the Region. She was also 12th in the region in the pole vault indoors and 16th outdoors.
She is a civil engineering major.
Burman is an NCAA III Championships qualifier indoors in the weight throw, where she led the region with an effort of 17.90 meters.
An accounting major, Burman is now a 4-time All-Great Lakes Region honoree and was named Academic All-OAC this season.
She was an OAC Champion this year indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the shot out and hammer throw.
Gibson is a 5-time All-OAC honoree, earning the award in the triple jump, long jump and as part of a 4x100 relay team.
She was in the top-50 regionally in seven events this year, earning All-Region honors in the long jump outdoors.
She is also a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree and is majoring in biology/pre-vet.
Friend was top-50 in five events this year and was All-Region and the OAC Champion in the discus outdoors.
She is a two-time Academic All-OAC award winner and is majoring in psychology.
Hockstok is a two-time All-OAC and one time All-Region honoree in cross country and had top-50 finishes in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters indoors and 5,000 and 10,000 meters outdoor this year.
A civil engineering major, she is also a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
