Izzy Burman breaks school record in the shot put to lead Women's Outdoor Track and Field at Bucknell Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Junior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) broke the outdoor shot put school record and placed 8th of 41 throwers with a toss of 12.99 meters to lead the Ohio Northern women's track and field team at the Bucknell Classic Saturday and Sunday.

Top ONU Performers
- Burman placed 8th in the shot put with a toss of 12.99m and broke the school record of 12.92m set in 2019 by Tia Harris.
- Sophomore Kennedy Rader (Mason) finished 39th of 65 runners in the invitational section of the 5000 in 17:36.05 and freshman AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) finished 44th in 17:41.54.
- Junior Abby Matthews (Lithopolis/Bloom Carroll) placed 13th out of 113 runners in the unseeded 1500 in 4:49.01. Senior Olesya Mertz (Johnstown) placed 95th in the event in 5:03.43.
- Matthews also finished 91st in the invitational 800m in 2:91.31.
- Sophomore Claire Schweller (Paulding) finished 13th of 42 jumpers in the pole vault with a height of 3.70m. Sophomore Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) placed 38th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.25m.
- Sophomore Samantha Roth (Brunswick) finished 9th out of 68 runners in the unseeded 5000 run in 18:04.24. Junior Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) placed 19th in the race in 18:13.85.
- Junior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood), junior Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview), and Burman finished 14th, 20th and 21st in the discus throw with tosses of 39.90m, 38.21m and 37.76m, respectively.
- Sellers and Friend also placed 31st and 39th in the shot put with marks of 11.35m and 10.72m.

- Ohio Northern competed with a split squad as some of the team competed at the All-Ohio Championships Friday and Saturday.
- Roth's time in the 5000 moves her into 9th on the top 10 all-time list.
- Radar's 5000m time moves her to number 3 all-time in ONU history.
- Gower moves up three spots in the 5000 all-time list to 4th in ONU history.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 15th year at Ohio Northern and is 684-161 for men's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .809.
