Gibson, Schweller lead Women's Indoor Track and Field at Findlay Oiler Opener

FINDLAY — Junior Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) and sophomore Claire Schweller (Paulding) led the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team to begin the 2023-24 season at the Findlay Oiler Opener on Friday.

- The Polar Bears placed fourth of 11 teams, scoring 18 points.
- Findlay won the team title with 202.75 points followed by Hillsdale (Mich.) with 155 points and Tiffin with 80 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Gibson placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.40 meters.
- Schweller tied for third in the pole vault with a height of 3.70 meters.
- Senior Rosie Schroeder (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of :09.73. She was third in the prelims with a time of :09.64.
- Junior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was seventh in the shot put with a mark of 12.23 meters and 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 15.62 meters.
- Sophomore Lauryn Wolters (Anna) placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.03 meters.
- Junior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was 10th in the shot put with a mark of 11.70 meters and 21st in the weight throw with a mark of 12.87 meters.
