Schweller places 4th in pole vault to lead Women’s Outdoor Track and Field on final day of Bucknell (Pa.) Bison Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Freshman Claire Schweller (Paulding) set a personal-best mark in the pole vault to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team on the final day of the Bucknell (Pa.) Bison Classic on Sunday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Schweller was one of three Polar Bears competing in one of the meet's Sunday events. She placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.65 meters, which is tied for sixth all-time at ONU.
Senior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) placed 12th in the invitational section of the pole vault with a mark of 3.50 meters.
Sophomore Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) placed 37th in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.79 meters.
Friend also competed in the discus throw during the Saturday portion of the meet, placing ninth with a personal-best 41.90 meters, which ranks second all-time at ONU.
Also on Saturday, senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) ran a personal-best 17:30.27 in the invitational section of the 5,000 meters, placing 35th. That time ranks second in program history.
Sophomore Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) finished third in the unseeded 5,000 in 18:20.12, and freshman Kennedy Rader (Mason) was ninth in the event in 18:27.49.
Senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) placed 44th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:44.29.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday when they host the Mike Becraft Invitational.
