Women’s Outdoor Track and Field posts 11 top-3 finishes at Tiffelberg Open

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team posted 11 top-three finishes in a strong showing at the Tiffelberg Open on Saturday at Hoernemann Stadium.
Overall, the Polar Bears posted 23 top-10 finishes in the meet, which was not team scored.
The team of junior Allie Starner (Wellington), sophomore Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) and freshmen Stacey Legg (Monroeville) and Haley Cannon (Oregon/Clay) won the 4x100 relay in :51.82.
Senior Kenzie Detmer (Liberty Center) won the triple jump with a mark of 10.11 meters, and sophomores Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) and Rylie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) were right behind in second and third, respectively, with marks of 10.11 meters and 10.03 meters.
Freshmen Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington), Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) and Lindsay Weininger (Upper Sandusky) tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 1.52 meters, giving Northern five top finishes on the day.
The Polar Bears added four more top-three finishes.
Legg was second in the long jump with a mark of 4.90 meters, junior J.J. Herron (Miamisburg) was second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.54, freshman Samantha Roth was second in the 5,000 meters in 19:14.43, and sophomore Olyvia Ashbrook was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.12.
Northern added six additional top-five showings.
Junior Rosie Schroeder (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in :16.81, freshman Lauryn Wolters (Anna) was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 4.79 meters, Krichbaum was fifth in the 100 meters in :12.96, Heitkamp was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.71 meters, sophomore Katelyn Messner (Granville) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:18.96, and sophomore Toria Ingalls (Tiffin/Columbian) tied for fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters.
The Polar Bears rounded out the day with six additional top-10 finishes.
Sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was sixth in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 11.77 meters, which ranks eighth all-time at ONU. She added a seventh-place finish in the discus throw with a personal-best 36.56 meters, which ranks 10th in program history.
Schroeder was ninth in the 200 meters in :28.14, freshman Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) was ninth in the 1,500 meters in 5:31.54, freshman Kaitlin Prusnek (Findlay) was 10th in the 800 meters in 2:38.84, and sophomore Madison Bolyard (St. Johns, Mich.) was 10th in the long jump with a mark of 4.19 meters.
The pole vault and javelin throw events were not held.
Four ONU student-athletes competed in the Washington (Mo.) Distance Carnival on Saturday at Francis Olympic Field in St. Louis.
Senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished eighth in the 10,000 meters in a personal-best 36:07.00, which ranks second all-time at ONU.
Sophomore Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) was 14th in the 10,000 meters in 37:00.60, and freshman Kennedy Rader (Mason) was 16th in 37:37.58. Those times rank fifth and eighth, respectively, in program history.
Senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) finished 19th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:38.84, finishing just off her personal-best time of 11:38.53.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday at the Manchester (Ind.) Invitational.
