Women’s Outdoor Track and Field sits in second place after Day 1 of Mike Becraft Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team sits in second place after Day 1 of the Mike Becraft Invitational on Friday at Kerscher Stadium.
Over two events, the hammer throw and javelin throw, the Polar Bears scored 18 team points and is behind only Albion (Mich.) with 32 points. Manchester (Ind.) and Ashland are tied for third with 10 points.
The top eight placers in each event score points for their team.
Senior Mackenzie Detmer (Liberty Center) led the way for the Polar Bears with a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 30.72 meters.
Freshmen Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) and Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) added fifth-place finishes.
Sellers was fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 29.66 meters, and Burman was fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.03 meters.
Freshmen Tarrah BeVier (Johnstown/Northridge) and Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) also scored for ONU.
BeVier was sixth in the javelin throw with a mark of 28.49 meters, and Friend was seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.53 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday for the second and final day of the Mike Becraft Invitational.
