OAC Championships Preview: The Ohio Northern women's track and field program vies for team and individual honors during the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at Otterbein this Friday and Saturday in Westerville ... The championship meet begins Friday with seven event finals and five prelims in the sprint and hurdle disciplines at 12 p.m. noon ... Action resumes Saturday morning with field events at 9:30 a.m. ... The top-three finishers in each event will receive All-OAC honors ... ONU owns an impressive 54-8 overall record heading into the championship weekend ... Last weekend, the Polar Bears cruised past Heidelberg, Manchester (Ind.), and Bluffton to win their own 2019 AJ Cody Invitational inside Kerscher Stadium on Senior Day ... During the two-day event, Ohio Northern captured a relay title and 12 individual event titles, including three from senior thrower Tia Harris ... The senior launched the hammer 44.64 meters (146' 5"), the discus 35.13 meters (115' 3"), and the shot put 12.56 meters (41' 2.5") for her team-high three victories ... In addition, classmate Mallory Weininger cleared an outdoor-best 1.60 meters (5' 3") in the high jump to win the event, setting the 10th-highest mark in school history and the 43rd-best on the NCAA Division III performance list ... For her efforts, she was named the OAC Field Athlete of the Week for the April 15-21 voting period ... Junior All-American Maggie Krause claimed the pole vault title after she cleared 3.56 meters (11' 8") and won on a tiebreaker ... Freshman Mackenzie Detmer topped the triple jump field at 9.89 meters (32' 5.5"), and classmate Kayla Silva tied for the top spot in the long jump at 4.51 meters (14' 9.75") ... On the track, senior Taylor Fisher and sophomores Chyanne Retcher and Megan Wright swept the 400 (1:03.62), 800 (2:33.84), and 1500 (5:09.18) titles ... Freshmen Kimberly Kramer and Emily Norden rounded out the individual victories with wins in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash in 16.27 and 26.57, respectively ... Retcher, senior Michaela Fox, Wright, and senior Avery Ewing capped the meet with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay with a 4:44.46 clocking ... Ohio Northern is the two-time defending OAC Champion after posting 162 points in 2017 and 166 team points in 2018 for back-to-back titles.
