This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's and women's outdoor track and field programs wrap up their respective pre-Ohio Athletic Conference Championship slates this Friday and Saturday when they host the 2019 AJ Cody Invitational at Kerscher Stadium ... The meet will also serve as Senior Day, recognizing the 16 senior members of the men's and women's track and field programs ... The four-team field includes Bluffton, Heidelberg, Manchester (Ind.), and Ohio Northern ... On Friday, the meet kicks off with the hammer and javelin competitions at 3 p.m. ... Field events continue Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with running events slated for a 12 p.m. start ... ONU enters its final regular season meet sporting an impressive 51-8 overall record ... Last weekend, the Polar Bears finished fourth in a 20-team field at the 2019 All-Ohio Outdoor Championships held at the George Gauthier Track on the Ohio Wesleyan campus in Delaware ... Junior Maggie Krause and the 4x100-meter relay team each won event titles, leading Ohio Northern to 85.5 points over the weekend ... Krause claimed the pole vault title after clearing a season-best 3.82 meters (12' 6.25"), leaping 0.27 meters (11 inches) higher than second-place finisher Sarah Voit from Oberlin ... Her effort tops the OAC performance list and ranks sixth in the NCAA Division III this season ... Meanwhile, freshmen Kayla Silva and Emily Norden, sophomore Stella DeWitt, and junior Taylor Lavey clocked a :48.61 in the 4x100-meter relay for the event title, nearly toppling the current school record (:48.58) ... In addition, senior thrower Tia Harris set her second ONU school record after tossing the shot put 12.92 meters (42' 4.75") for a fourth-place mark ... Senior Sydney McCluer, Lavey, Norden, and senior Avery Ewing added a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a 4:03.58 clocking ... Lavey, Norden, and Ewing rounded out the top-three performances, taking third in the 100 (:12.53), 400 (:59.89), and 800 (2:15.70), respectively.
