OAC Championships Preview: The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field program is set to host the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships this Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23 inside the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse ... Field events begin Friday at 12 p.m. with running events set for a 4:30 p.m. start ... On day two, action resumes at 10 a.m. with the remaining field event competitions ... ONU enters the championship event owning a 19-4 overall record this season ... The Polar Bears currently sit sixth on the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region power rankings list ... Northern has eight marks that rank among the top-three efforts in their respective events on the OAC performance list heading into the weekend ... Last Saturday, the program concluded its regular season at the unscored Flag City Open in Findlay ... During the event, the Polar Bears captured three event titles ... Sprinter Kayla Silva broke the school's freshman class record in the 60-meter dash with a 7.94 clocking to win the event ... Meanwhile, senior Michaela Fox bested the 800-meter run field in 2:25.84 ... Taylor Fisher, Emily Norden, Mackenzie Detmer, and Sydney McCluer capped off the meet with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:08.99 ... Northern also received top-three efforts from sophomores Chyanne Retcher and Kylie Vestal who ended second and third in the 1,000-meter run with career-best 3:11.81 and 3:12.65 clockings, respectively ... Last year, the Polar Bears took runner-up honors at the 2018 OAC Championships after scoring 128 points at host institution Capital.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 10th season leading the Ohio Northern men's and women's track and field programs at Ohio Northern ... He currently owns a 385-125-1 record during the women's indoor season, a .754 win percentage.
