Senior Kelsey Commager leads Women's Outdoor Track & Field to first place finish at Centre (Ky.) Invitational

ADA — Senior Kelsey Commager (Maumee) led the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team to a first place finish at the 51st Annual Centre (Ky.) Invitational in Danville, Ky. on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears finished first of 16 teams with 168 points and improved to 37-3 overall.
Commager finished first in both the long jump and triple jump as she won the long jump with a leap of 17' 10.25" and claimed first place in the triple jump with a leap of 37' 0.50".
Junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) claimed first place in the 400-meter dash as she won the event in 56:49, while senior Meagan Ellinger (Bath, Ind./Union County) finished third in 1:00.14.
Senior Kendra Paul (Ada) claimed a first place finish in the javelin throw as she won the event with a throw of 122' 00".
Sophomore Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) teamed up with Richards, Ellinger, and sophomore Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta) to take first place in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:58.76.
Senior Rebecca Carman (Bellefontaine) posted a second place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in :16.16, while freshman Melinda McIntosh (Farmersville/Valley View) took fifth place in the event in :17.01.
Seniors Genevieve Marchese (Beavercreek/Carroll) and Nicole Huber (Findlay) finished 2-3 in the 1,500-meter run as Marchese took second in 4:57.05 and Huber finished third in 5:00.99.
Marchese and Huber also finished fourth and fifth in the 800-meter run as Huber took fourth place in 2:23.12 and Marchese claimed fifth place in 2:23.47
The 4x100-meter relay team of Commager, Ellinger, Fisher and freshman Taylor Lavey (Findlay) narrowly missed the school record and took second place in the event in :49.67.
In the 100-meter dash, Lavey finished second in :12.71 for ONU.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Danielle Sutter (Fort Recovery) finished third in 12:12.25.
Sophomore Mallory Weininger (Upper Sandusky) posted a third place finish in the high jump, clearing 4' 11.75".
Sophomores Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) and Kristina Myers (Orient/Central Crossing) finished fourth and fifth in the 10,000-meter run as Baumann took fourth place in 38:06.29 and Myers finished fifth in 39:47.24.
In the hammer throw, senior Rebecca Olashuk (Defiance/Tinora) finished fourth place with a toss of 141' 5.00".
Freshmen Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and Allison Stevens (Naperville, Ill.) finished fourth and fifth in the pole vault as Krause took fourth place with a vault of 10' 2.00" and Stevens finished fifth with a leap of 9' 2.25".
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday, Apr. 8 as it competes in the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
