Women's Indoor Track & Field finishes sixth at OAC Championships

ALLIANCE -- The 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay teams each earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors to lead the Ohio Northern women's indoor track & field team at the OAC Championships on Saturday afternoon at Peterson Fieldhouse on the campus of Mount Union.
Northern finished in sixth place with 44 points.
Mount Union won the team title with 219 points, Otterbein was second with 118 points and Baldwin Wallace was third with 106 points.
The 4x200-meter relay team of junior Gabrielle Metzner, sophomore Brittany Lee, sophomore Kristine Wagner and freshman Allison Gast earned All-OAC honors with a second place finish in 1:47.35.
The 4x400-meter relay team of junior Catie Huber, Lee, Metzner and Wagner finished third in 4:08.25.
Metzner was also fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.30 seconds and was seventh in the 200-meter dash in 27.17 seconds.
Wagner was eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.85.
In the triple jump, senior Emily Blum finished fifth with a leap of 10.17 meters (33-4.50) and freshman Kelsey Commager was sixth with a leap covering 10.05 meters (32-11.75).
Sophomore Kara Sosinski notched a seventh place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 19:07.30.
Huber finished eighth in the 800-meter run, crossing in 2:25.17 and senior Laura Avino was eighth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:11.10.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," said head coach Jason Maus. "We are a young team. This experience will help us grow and become stronger for the future."
