Women's Tennis edged by John Carroll 5-4 on Senior Day in battle for OAC Regular Season crown

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team was edged by John Carroll 5-4 in a showdown for the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title on Sunday afternoon at the West Campus Courts on Senior Day.
The Polar Bears end their regular season 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the OAC, while the Blue Streaks improve to 7-0, 7-0.
Northern started strong, winning two of the three doubles courts to take an early 2-1 lead.
Senior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) and sophomore Jeorgia Templin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and senior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) and sophomore Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
After John Carroll won at No. 1 singles to tie the match at 2-2, Curry won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to give ONU a 3-2 lead.
But JCU would win at Nos. 2, 3 and 6 singles to clinch the match with a 5-3 lead.
Wills finished the day with a tough 7-5, 3-6, 10-8 victory at No. 4 singles for ONU.
The polar Bears honored their seniors, Wills, Curry and Jordan Dodson (Worthington) as well as last year's graduated senior Kaleigh Cummins in a prematch ceremony.
Ohio Northern will be the No. 2 seed in next week's OAC Tournament and will receive a bye into the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 pm at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
