Women's Tennis drops 7-2 decision at NCAA Division I foe Valparaiso

VALPORAISO, Ind. -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at NCAA Division I foe Valparaiso on Saturday evening at the Valpo Tennis Courts.
The Polar Bears fall to 12-4 on the season, while the Crusaders improve to 3-12.
ONU won by forfeit at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles for its two points as Valparaiso only had five healthy players in the match.
Northern was competitive in all seven matches against its Division I counterpart and trailed 2-1 after doubles play.
Senior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) and junior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) were fell 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, while junior Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeast) and freshman Olivia Schrager (Dayton/Miami Valley) dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Ochsenhirt fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, Schrager fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Cummins fall 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, Wills dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 4 and junior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) fell 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5.
The Polar Bears will return to Ohio Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 pm.
