This Week's Championships: The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team travels to Akron this week for the 34th annual Ohio Athletic Conference Championships … The meet will be held at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium … Preliminary races Thursday, Friday and Saturday will begin at 10 a.m. each day … The finals will begin on Wednesday night at 7:45 pm with the 800-yard free relay ... Five more event finals will begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, seven more on Friday at 6 pm and the final seven on Saturday at 5:45 pm ... The top 16 swimmers will score team points in each event ... The top 8 qualifiers after the prelims will compete for the league title and the next eight qualifiers will compete in the consolation race for places 9-16 ... The top three finishers in the 15 individual events and the top two relay teams in each of the five relay events will earn All-Conference honors ... Senior Shelby Starkey is the top seed and defending champion in the 200 back (2:11.10) and is seeded third in the 100 back in 1:01.43 ... Starkey enters the meet as a two-time OAC Champion and a 7-time All-OAC honoree ... Sophomore Mara Brown joined Starkey on the OAC champion 400 medley relay team a year ago and is a 5-time All-OAC award winner ... She is seeded second in the 100 fly (:59.70) and the 200 fly (2:16.38) and is fourth in the 100 breast (1:10.82) ... Freshman Meghan Mattison is seeded third in the 200 fly in 2:16.73 ... Senior Gabbie Grant, junior Katie Bend and sophomore Hannah Eversole also return as All-OAC honoree.s
