Saturday's Meet: The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team is competing in its first home dual meet of the season against Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll … The Polar Bears are coming off a meet at Wilmington last Friday and a tri-meet at Division II Hillsdale (Mich.) with Hope (Mich.) on Saturday … ONU defeated Wilmington 202-59 but fell to Hillsdale (Mich.) 211-63 and Hope (Mich.) 218-77 … Senior Megan Lubinski led the way for the Polar Bears last week with a pair of individual victories and 3 second-place finishes along with 2 top finishes in relays en route to earning OAC Women's Swimmer of the Week recognition … On Friday, Lubinski won the 50-meter free in :27.82 and the 400-meter free in 4:51.79 and was also part of the top-placing 200-meter medley and 200-meter free relay teams that finished in 2:09.06 and 1:59.47, respectively … On Saturday, Lubinski tallied second-place finishes in the 50-yard free in :25.60, the 100-yard free in :55.86 and the 200-yard free in 2:01.40 … Friday also featured first-place finishes from senior Lauren Shaw (50-meter breast in :38.89, 100-meter free in 1:06.32), sophomore Shelby Starkey (50-meter back in :32.71, 100-meter I.M. in 1:15.45) and freshman Mara Brown (100-meter breast in 1:22.45, 50-meter fly in :31.32) … This meet marks the season opener for John Carroll … The Blue Streaks are seeking a sixth straight OAC championship … JCU is led by Gwyneth Hamilton (OAC champion in 100 Back, 200 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay, and All-OAC in 50 Free), Ashley Lynch (OAC champion in 100 Free, 200 Free and 200, 400 and 800 Free Relays) and Anna Glass (OAC champion in 400 Medley Relay and 400 and 800 Free Relays) … The teams last met in February with JCU earning a 186-111 victory, which was its fifth straight win in the series.
