Beckett, Cabana lead list of 6 Polar Bears named All-OAC in Women's Soccer; Tierney named OAC Coach of the Year

ADA — Senior Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) was named OAC Midfielder of the Year and fifth-year senior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.) was named OAC Defender of the Year to lead a list of six Polar Bears earning All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in women's soccer for the 2024 season.
Fifth-year senior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) and seniors Emma Bowman (Novi, Mich./Northville) and Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) were also named to the All-OAC First Team and sophomore Caroline Hennegan was a Third Team selection.
ONU head coach Ben Tierney was named the OAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.
Beckett is now a two-time OAC Midfielder of the Year and four-time First Team All-OAC selection.
Beckett started in all 20 games this season and led an ONU offense that leads the OAC in points (125), goals (47), assists (31), and average goals per game (2.35). She scored a team-high 11 goals while tallying three assists and ranked second on the team with 25 points. She tied for the lead in the OAC in goals and is second in points.
In 79 career games, including 74 starts, Beckett totaled 62 points on 27 goals and eight assists.
Cabana earns her second OAC Defender of the Year accolade and third All-OAC selection.
Cabana also started in all 20 games this season and led a Polar Bear defense that ranked fourth in the OAC in goals against (21) and GAA (1.05) and tallied eight shutouts. Offensively, Cabana had five points on one goal and four assists.
In her career, Cabana has played in 71 games with 67 starts and has 38 points on 11 goals and 16 assists to her credit.
Roberts is now a five-time All-OAC honoree.
Roberts started in all 20 games for the Polar Bears and led the team in points (26) and assists (8) while being second on the team with nine goals, including five game-winners. She leads the OAC in points and is ranked second in assists and tied for fourth in goals.
Roberts has played in 89 career matches, which is ranked first all-time in ONU history. She has started 84 of those matches and has a total of 62 points on 23 goals and 16 assists.
Bowman is now a three-time All-OAC honoree after being named to Second Team the past two seasons.
Bowman closed the season with 11 points on two goals and seven assists. Her assist total ranks second on the team and third in the OAC.
In 81 career games, including 80 starts, Bowman has 25 assists, which ranks tied for fifth all-time at Ohio Northern. She also has 35 points and five assists.
Pierce and Hennegan are both first-time All-OAC selections.
Pierce finished the season with eight goals, which ranks third on the team, to go along with 17 points and one assist. Her eight goals rank tied for seventh in the OAC.
Pierce has appeared in 83 matches in her career with 76 starts. She has 40 points on 16 goals and eight assists.
Hennegan started in 15 games this season and played a key factor in ONU's defense along with Cabana. Offensively she had one point on one assist.
In 27 career games, including 16 starts, Hennegan has one point and one assist.
Tierney is in his second season as head coach at Ohio Northern and has a 24-14-2 overall record.
The Polar Bears (14-5-1 overall) won the OAC Regular Season title with an 8-1 record as well as the OAC Tournament title to clinch an automatic bid into the NCAA III Tournament. They now have 10 OAC Regular Season titles and six OAC Tournament Championships.
Making their 7th NCAA Tournament appearance, the Polar Bears will face No. 25-ranked Sewanee (Tenn.) at host Washington & Lee (Va.) in the opening round on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
