Six Polar Bears named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team

ADA — Six Ohio Northern student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team for the 2023 season.
Senior defender Bri Straus (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), junior midfielders Emma Bowman (Novi, Mich./Northville), Alexa Clampitt (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica Academy for International Studies) and Libby Johnson (Fairfield), sophomore forward Haley Cannon (Oregon/Clay) and sophomore defender Claire Wiseman (Cincinnati/Saint Ursula) were each named Academic All-District.
Straus and Bowman are making their second appearances on the Academic All-District team, while the four other student-athletes are first time award winners.
Straus is a four-time All-OAC honoree, earning First Team accolades this season and in 2020 and Second Team kudos in 2021 and 2022.
An Academic All-OAC selection last season, the exercise physiology major has started in all 73 games in her ONU career, scoring two goals to go with two assists for six career points.
Bowman is a two-time Second Team All-OAC Second Team selection and has been named to the All-OAC Tournament teams in 2023 and 2021.
The nursing major has started in all 60 of 61 games in her ONU career and has 24 points on three goals and 18 assists.
Clampitt is a philosophy/political science/economics major that has played in 61 career matches with 23 starts.
She has 14 career points on five goals and four assists.
Johnson has played in 49 career matches with 18 starts, including 12 this season.
The accounting major will enter her senior season with two goals, one assist and five points.
Cannon earned Second team All-Conference accolades this season in her first season as a starter.
She tallied 11 points on three goals and five assists in 2023 and is majoring in forensic biology.
Wiseman started 19 of 20 matches in her first healthy season at ONU.
She is majoring in criminal justice and psychology.
The CSC Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
First, Second and Third Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Dec. 20.
The Polar Bears finished the season at 10-9-1 overall, finished third in the OAC with a 7-2-0 mark and reached the finals of the OAC Tournament under first-year head coach Ben Tierney in 2023.
